When I Think of Research...

When I first enter this class I was like what in the word have I got myself in to.   I quickly thought to myself that I would have to write this long research paper that would be 20 pages or more, had to look for different resources to make the paper good, had to spend long hours in the library to find what I needed for the research paper, and would have to find some people to participant in the research.  I also felt out of place because I had no idea what to do for this research, didn’t know how to read research because of the language and BIG terminology, and in addition, the graphs and charts.  At the beginning I thought I was setting myself up for failure.

Through this course I have learned a lot about research.  I have learned how to read just the important parts of the research to save time. I have learned why people do research and why it is important to do research.

The way course was taught has really helped me conduct a research.  The way it was broken into small parts really helped me understand research.  Defining the terminology in the book also help me understand research and completing the charts for the chapters also helped.

Some challenges I faced in this course was coming up with good research topics and finding something that was interest to me. I keep choosing broad topic and changing it because it was something I don’t like.

Through research there is a lot that can be found.  As the world change, educators are face with more and more challenges learning about young child.  Research for early childhood is very important it help educators and parents found answers to the unknown.

I would like to thanks everyone for the encouragement throughout this course and to Professor Janet Kien for been an awesome professor.  I knew only a little coming into this course and leaving out confidence enough to attempt a research.

  1. Felicia,

I agree - these weekly charts were really helpful with learning and breaking down the information we had to take in each week. This course had a great set up for helping us learn!

Thank you for your posts throughout this class! I wish you luck in the future - especially if you are going to complete a research study!

  2. Felicia,

Thanks for your posts throughout this course! I hope you have much success in your future courses and career!

I agree with you as well. Doing the charts every week really helped me get a better understanding of the complex terminology and the steps of the research process.
