Personal Childhood Web

Mom- My mother is the one I can give just about all my thanks to for the encouragement and support to pursue my teaching degree. Growing up she always said do your best at whatever you do and don't let anyone tell you wrong. Since I was a little girl I have never seen my mother work. She was always the one who took care of the house, meals, and cared for her ill mother. To this day I thank my mother so much because she take care of my three kids while I work. I think that is a blessing to have such a loving mother to watch my kids. I thank her each and every day for keeping them. Words can't explain how I feel about her. Without her in my life I do not know what I would do without her. Thanks mommy and love you.

Dad- My dad is the one that worked all the time and provide the financial part. He also plays an important role in my life because he is the one I learned hard work first and play later and it will pay off. Even when times where hard he always seem to find away to make things work out. Without the proper education I seem my father go through several dead end jobs and wondering where our next meal will come from. But as a man he never showed any concerns and never mention anything was wrong. I see myself in father with the ambitious to have more in life. Just like my mother, he has encouragement me to go farther in life and to continue my education.

Sister- My sister is the one I learned from growing up. She was the one who always got in trouble as a teenage. No legal trouble just you typical teenager who thought she was grow. As kids we were never close and I think it was because of our age difference which is seven years. Growing up we never got along and never talked about anything. But as years past and I got older she gave several advise about life. A senior in high school is become pregnant and didn't finish high school. One advise she gave me was to complete high school and go beyond that. Just like mom and dad I took them encouraging words and ran with them. She is also the reason why I'm pursuing my master's because with three kids and single I would not be able financially and emotionally to do it.

Brother-in-law- My brother-in-law has seen me grow up from the age of 11 and until now. He has been such impact on my life because of the support he gives me. When my parents could not provide for the extra activities like basketball supplies, he was there to help. Without his financially support I would not have been able to continued with basketball through middle and high school which from high school I was able to get a full scholarship basketball that led to my first degree. Not only he was there for me financially but also emotionally with the kids. Along with my sister he help watch the kids when needed.

All My Teachers Throughout School- From kindergarten throughout my colleges I can truly say just about all my teacher inspired me to become a teacher.  The positive impact they had on my life really made me want to give the back.  I wanted to share what they have told me to others.  The support and encouragement they give showed that they cared. Some more than others really went over and beyond with the encouragement and support.

My kids-  My kids motivate me.  Looking into their innocence eyes makes me want to go farther so I can provide them with more in life.  Knowing that they will have unconditional love for me shows me that they care and love me.

My Favorite Children Book

There are so many children books that I love and I can't really narrow it down.  However, my all time favorite is "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," by Laura Joffe Numeroff and illustrated Felicia Bond.  She is one of my favorite author along with others.  I love all the books by Laura Numeroff.  But my current favorite is "The Bad Case of Stripes," by David Shannon.

First Year of Teaching 2010-2011

The Head Start Program I work at require us to have family style dining, so the kids can engage in conversation.  However, at the lunch table anything can be talked about.  Being my first full year teaching I had no idea how to response to this little girl statement.  The Little Girl: Ms. Felecia you know my daddy die.  Ms. Felecia: Oh I'm sorry to hear that!!!!  The Little Girl:  It's ok!!! I see him and talk to him sometimes.  Ms. Felecia:  Oh really!!!!  After she said that I was speechless and turned to my assistant teacher for help.

Quotes

Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.
Chinese proverb

The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.
B.B. King

I choose these two quotes because they reflect how I feel about education. The first quote I find really true because going through elementary school I remember a lot of fun things that I was involve in and now I understand them.  My second quote is self-explanatory.  Somethings in life no one can take away from you and that is things you have learned.
